Late Night Musings

Something happened today that hasn't happened today in a long time. I read a book cover to cover in one sitting. I used to do that all the time when I was younger. But as I got into the later years in high school and early years in college, my love for reading disappeared. I still read from time to time, but usually it took me a few months to read a book as I usually found other things to do. But today I was at Barnes and Noble and picked up a copy of Alan Alda's autobiography, "Never Have Your Dog Stuffed: And Other Things I've Learned." Alda is one of my favorite actors, and his life story was just as interesting as the characters he's portrayed on stage, screen, and television. And I couldn't put the book down. It was almost like reliving my younger days when reading was what I chose to do instead of watching TV or surfing the internet.

While and Barnes and Noble, I also picked up "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning Latin" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning Italian." I figure since I'm taking a summer class I might as well keep up the learning streak and work on learning two languages that are prevalent in music.

It looks like I'll have a productive summer. At least I won't be bored.

I hope.
